OUR JERRY
Eulogy by John W. Davis
We got the note from Dianne that our Jerry had transitioned. It seemed so sudden because just two days before, he was the grammarian at our Toastmaster meeting, telling us the word of the day, which was “BEMUSE.”
I can remember all the speeches of his that I was there for: Boeing engineer, airplane mechanic on an aircraft carrier, medical videographer in Saudi-Arabia, UFO’s, Sasquatch, and of course, Jerry’s Angels--all quadrillion of them.
Jerry had a deep understanding and a familial relationship with spiritual entities he called his Angel Teams, who he called on to intervene in his clients’ spiritual, emotional and physical dilemmas. He had stumbled onto a healing technique using his teams of Angels, where he would partner with a person of psychic abilities to help direct the Angels to the specific places in that person’s psyche and body to bring the healing forward.
Our Jerry was a treasure. When I had RSV in January, he didn’t hesitate to deploy his teams of Angels on my behalf. And, I’m sure others here have been visited in their sleep by Jerry’s Angels, whether or not they felt the Angelic presence.
Jerry was always collecting what others thought “waste” and finding a second use for it. I, myself, am a beneficiary of two plastic barrels that he remade into planters for my strawberries.
When I was at this house, I saw the muse for many of his speeches about lasagna gardens: a 5-foot pile of layers of leaves, compost, wood chips, and god-only-knows what else; growing potatoes, garlic and onions.
Indeed, those many layers of totally different stuff are an apt metaphor for Jerry. He was a lasagna garden himself; layer upon layer of different life experiences, serving as a bed for a future harvest.
May your Angels now guide you on your way Dear Friend. Your presence here was a blessing for us all.
May your Angels know in their hearts that you are a blessing to them on your journey.
Benediction

Personal Eulogy by Dianne, life partner

The shou, which I wear today, is a symbol of longevity. It is made of jade, which is associated with wisdom, harmony, and tranquility; and gold, associated with divine radiance and celestial deities. My wish for Jerry is that he enjoys an eternal life imbued with these qualities.
Based a handwritten manifesto we recently unearthed, as a young man Jerry envisioned his purpose in life was to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to be kind. He saw himself as a spiritual being in the physical plane whose life was to stand for something and to have it make some difference.
Jerry lived a good life. He did everything he wanted: multiple careers, travel, living on the land, collecting and repurposing everything, and serving others at the drop of a hat.
He embedded his life with substance and meaning as a way of life—an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know him.
It was Jerry’s purpose to coordinate teams of angels to help ALL his brothers and sisters to restore order, abundance, well-being, and right relationship in their lives. So his angel healing practice was inclusive of all people, without bias or judgment.
Jerry lived by his creed for righteous living—no lies, no booze, and do unto others as you wish others would do unto you.
At his essence Jerry was a kind man who never met a stranger and had a rare gift for leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
Although Jerry’s physical presence many no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of compassionate healing.
One of my favorite quotes comes from poet William Wordsworth, it goes something like:
"The best portion of a good man’s life is his acts of kindness and love.”
Jerry was the kindest man I ever met.
That’s my Jerry, remember him well!
